Self-Guided Tour of Motawi Tile in the Wild

(Click the image above to play the video)

Where does a tile go once it leaves our studio?

Sometimes it lands in a fireplace. Sometimes in a kitchen backsplash. And sometimes…it goes a little farther. From Ann Arbor to Dearborn—and even all the way to Disneyland in Anaheim, California—Motawi tile has found a home in public spaces where thousands of people pass by every day.

We’ve created a short self-guided video tour highlighting some of these installations. Addresses are included, so if you’re nearby (or planning a trip), you can see them in person.

Featured stops include:

  • The 195-flag mural in Dearborn, Michigan

  • The Boy Reading mural at Storytellers Café inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

  • Library and community installations in Ann Arbor

There’s something different about seeing tile in architecture—how the glaze catches the light, how pattern anchors a space, how clay becomes part of someone’s everyday life.

Watch the video, then explore even more installations in our full project archive:

If you visit one, we’d love to hear which stop made you pause the longest.
